Lana Del Rey’s “Paradise” is a moody dream soundscape

After quite a interesting couple of years, Lana Del Rey has finally reached Paradise (the EP that accompanies her rerelease of debut Born to Die, that is). And in typical LDR fashion, it sounds more like the island from Lost then it does the Bahamas. But who really cares – it’s good moody pop. If you like what Lana has done in the past (aka the original Born to Die), you’ll like the Paradise EP too. The highlights are definitely the Americana reveling “Ride”, the ethereal “Bel Air”, the “Blue Velvet” cover, and my personal favorite, the heavy swinging “Body Electric”. But all 8 new songs are pretty decent (side note: if you’re a LDR buff, you will note that song #8, “Yayo”, is not in fact new, but that’s forgiveable. Most people don’t know it), and deliver more of Lana’s deliberate and sculpted brooding persona.

So, dying to hear it? ? Below you’ll find samples of all 8 songs – if you like it, head over to iTunes to pick up the full EP.
