Forget More Cowbell… I want more Sleigh Bells!! Check out “Holly”

Sometimes you hear a band for the first time and fall in love, and then you rush to get as much music by that band as humanly possible. This is one of those times for me because I just can’t get enough of Sleigh Bells! I want to share their awezing-ness with the whole world!!!!

After yesterday’s “Infinity Guitars” post, I ran into the simply titled “Holly“, which is more of their great gritty, yelling, “noise pop”. This song is definitely angry, but in all the right ways (consider the first line “Wasted all day, Killing all the Capulets”). It’s break stuff music, but with rhythm. I’m totally loving it, and definitely downloaded a bunch more songs from their album Treats. I hope you will too.

Black Cards single “Club Called Heaven” FINALLY released… and it features who else but CHIDDY BANG!

This is getting pretty ridiculous. Chiddy Bang may not be releasing a full length album until next year, but they sure are getting their hands into EVERYONE’s music. Latest dabble: “Club Called Heaven”, the just released single for  Pete Wentz’s creation The Black Cards (full album out sometime in the new year it looks like). I talked about them a few months back when they released a couple samples of their music  via their website blackcardsmusic.com (which now features a fun silent video promo-ing this new single) . But finally we have a full length song, and it’s pretty freaking awesome.

This is definitely not Fall Out Boy v2.0. This is completely different! All pop-y and funky, this is just kind of excellent. The lead singer, Bebe Rexha, has a fantastic voice that is eery and smooth. The sound (at least of this song) is a bit old West mixed with deep bass beats. Funky. And as always, the addition of Chiddy Bang to any song gives it (as WolfSH put it) more  COWBELL.

More from next week’s Mark Ronson release: “Record Collection” and “Somebody to Love Me”

Mark Ronson may as well have released Record Collection already, with how many songs have been leaked out. Instead, it releases next Tuesday, and I already know the album is pretty solid since I listened to the full album on Some Kind of Awesome (click here to listen to the whole thing yourself). Today, I’m posting two more of what I would call the “best of” the alubm: The title track “Record Collection” featuring Simon Le Bon (from DURAN DURAN) and “Somebody to Love Me” featuring Boy George.

I’m totally digging the laid back calypso feel of “Somebody to Love Me”, and the live video that was released a couple nights ago is pretty sweet (Boy George looks ridiculous… as does Mark Ronson’s uber blond hair.. wtf). “Record Collection” is a little more uptempo and electronic. As always, Mark’s excellent production comes through crystal clear. This song is some kind of magical ride my bike around town kind of song.
