With the weather remaining quite dreary, I am definitely in need of a good pick me up. Luckily for me, the perfect antidote for rain and gloom just landed in my lap in the form of a cover song. Alison Mosshart, best known for her stellar work as front woman for The Kills, got together with The Forest Rangers and put out an absolutely gorgeous version of Louis Armstrong‘s timeless “What A Wonderful World”. I’m not the only one who thinks this is music magic either – tehesong was featured on the season premiere of Sons Of Anarchy this week.
With her throaty vocals, Mosshart is the perfect female singer to take on an Armstrong song. She expertly weaves her strong voice in waves over an acoustic guitar, shifting tones gracefully with the rhythm. Songs like this prove that to make music that truly can move you, all you need are a few guitar chords and a heartbreaking voice.
